Biography of Prof. Dr. Abdul Qayoom Jakhrani Prof. Dr. Abdul Qayoom Jakhrani is a distinguished academic and leader in the fields of Energy Systems and Environmental Engineering. Currently, he holds the dual positions of Chairman of the Department of Energy Systems Engineering and Director of Postgraduate Studies & Research at Quaid-e-Awam University of Engineering, Science and Technology (QUEST), Nawabshah. With a robust academic background, Dr. Jakhrani earned his PhD in Environmental Engineering from Universiti Malaysia Sarawak (UNIMAS) in 2013, building upon his Master's and Bachelor's degrees from Mehran University of Engineering & Technology (MUET), Jamshoro. His doctoral research focused on the performance modeling and size optimization of standalone photovoltaic systems, a theme that has remained central to his expertise. His professional journey at QUEST spans over 17 years, during which he has progressed through the academic ranks from Lecturer to a Professor. Dr. Jakhrani is a prolific researcher with a strong publication record in esteemed ISI-indexed journals. He published more than 45 research papers and presented his work in more than 30 International and National Conferences and Symposiums. His research interests are strategically aligned with national and global energy challenges, encompassing solar photovoltaic and thermal systems, energy storage technologies; brackish water desalination, pollution control, environmental engineering, and climate change its mitigation & adaptation strategies. As an HEC-approved PhD supervisor, he provides dedicated mentorship, guiding numerous PhD, M.E., and B.E. students to completion. He has successfully supersized more than 20 postgraduate students and currently providing guidance to 5 postgraduate students. Beyond academia, Dr. Jakhrani is an active resource person, frequently invited to speak at national conferences and workshops. His career is a testament to a profound commitment to promote sustainable energy solutions, protection of environment and adapting better strategies for addressing climate change disasters. He is promoting research excellence to cultivate skills that serve national interests.
