University had established the main Computer Centre at Sector A in 1986, which was initially equipped with IBM Micro Computer PC Ats, PS/2 Model – 60 and 80. Besides that a mini mainframe IBM 9373 Model-20 with terminal console, six terminals and two terminal printers was also installed. The Computer Centre is now strengthened with E-mail and Internet facilities, which are being upgraded further. Pentium–IV machines along with Scanners have been added to the Centre. The main functions of this Centre are to impart instructions and training to the undergraduate and postgraduate students in learning the use of computer and to provide facility for teaching and research staff to use the system for research and development.

The University has also made available similar personal computers in all the teaching departments for teaching and research purposes. Short-term computer courses are designed for encouraging computer literacy among local people. Another computer centre in B-Sector has also been established since 1999 to provide additional computing facilities to students and teachers of Civil, Mechanical, BSRS and Energy & Environment Engineering departments. The centre is equipped with Pentium-IV machines. Now every department has its own  computer lab with internet facilities. Additional 175 personal computers have been acquired to enhance the computing facilities for teachers, researchers and students.
